Upon his first visit to Africa in 2013 Richard was told by the Igbo’s and Yoruba’s in Nigeria that he was one of them! When a DNA test proved them correct he legally changed his name to reflect the fact that he is Igbo & Yoruba on his Fathers side and a member of the Fante people of Ghana on his Mothers side!
In 2020 (during the pandemic) Boots had a surprise diagnosis – three different congenital heart defects. On January 15, 2021 she had an open-heart surgery. Fast forward to today, she is now thriving and is on a mission to raise awareness through her podcast, The Heart Chamber: patient stories of open-heart surgery and recovery. Boots believes that heart surgery can be an incredible opportunity to begin again in life and live life wide open. She often says January 15, 2021 was the best day of her life.
